Want to experience all that #vanlife promises on Instagram without the huge cost of buying a vehicle? Or want to get an introduction into van life without the commitment? I’ve gathered a list of companies that allow you to rent a campervan for the epic road trip and intro into real(ish) #vanlife. While most of the rental companies are located on the west coast, I’ve gathered a list of companies also in the South and Midwest.
Most van companies charge $200-$300 per night. But keep in mind mileage costs and various insurances. While not the most affordable way to road trip, definitely the most adventurous. Also, there are a lot of free government-owned land open for camping.
West Rentals
Escape Camper Vans
Escape Camper Vans is first on the list and one of the largest camper van rentals. With locations in the West and across the US, you’ll find a location closer to you. They are located in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, Salt Lake City, Denver, Phoenix, Atlanta, Miami, and New York. Because of the size of their fleet, Escape is often the cheapest option.

Mercedes Sprinter RV Rental
For luxury options with a lot of locations, Mercedes Sprinter RV Rental offers luxury for the road. As the name suggests, they offer exclusively Mercedes sprinter vans for the luxurious traveler. Their builds are very professional and comfortable including solar.
Peace Vans Rentals
Based out of Seattle, Washington, Peace Van Rentals specializes in Classic Volkswagen campervans. They recently added a Mercedes pop-up camper for 2020. Peace Van Rentals is the largest VW camper shop in the US so you know the vans are well taken care of.
Road Trip Oregon
Located in Portland, OR, Road Trip Oregon is (as the name implies) perfect for exploring the best of Oregon and the Pacific Northwest. Road Trip Oregon was started over 15 years ago by a #vanlifer who spent countless hours in different RVs and campers that he created the company to offer the best out there.
Vintage Surfari Wagons
For the classic VW bus, look no further than Vintage Surfari Wagons located in Costa Mesa, California. In a rainbow of colors, Vintage Surfari Wagons offers the nostalgic campervans perfect for exploring California.
Native Campervans
Native Campervans has locations in Denver, Co, Salt Lake City, UT, and Las Vegas NV with periodic sales for one-way rentals. Meaning, they offer discounts to pick up a van in Las Vegas and drop off in Denver. If you’d prefer to pick up a camper in one city and drop off in another city, Native Campers would be perfect.

Most known for their New Zealand rentals, Jucy Rentals also has locations in the US – Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. If you like the bright green and purple, look no further. They offer smaller rigs at an affordable rate.

GoCAMP also allows customers to rent campers from its owners using a sharing model. Although the company is based in Portland, OR they have van rentals throughout Oregon and California. It’s also a woman-owned business!

You guessed it – Another RV sharing platform (obvious?) RV Share also has a lot of RV options for those with more people or want more flexibility.
Campanda
Campanda lets your rent RVs and Camper van directly from its owners with in the US and beyond. Locations are limitless with these options because the owners are located everywhere.
